- Description
- SIX LANCETS LIGHTS IN THE SOUTH TRANSEPT DEPICTING THE AGE-LONG CONFLICT BETWEEN GOOD AND EVIL. THE EASTERN AISLE OF THE SAME TRANSEPT WAS CONVERTED INTO A SOLDIER'S CHAPEL WITH AN ORNATE SHRINE. THE NAMES ARE INSCRIBED ON PANELS WITHIN THE CHAPEL. IN THE WINDOW ARE 21 ILLUSTRATED SCENES BEGINNING WITH THE EXPULSION OF THE REBELLIOUS ANGELS FROM HEAVEN. THEN THERE ARE VARIOUS SCENES DEPICTING THE LEADING TYPES AND INCIDENTS IN HUMAN HISTORY, THE FALL AND THE REDEMPTION AND ENDING WITH THE FINAL VICTORY. THE FALLEN OF THE EAST RIDING REGIMENT ARE RECORDED ON VELLUM PLACED WITHIN NICHES. BLUE PAINTED CORNICE ABOVE THEM. THE NAMES OF THE FALLEN WHO SERVED WITH OTHER REGIMENTS ARE INSCRIBED ON OAK SCREENS PLACED BETWEEN THE THREE ARCHES FORMING THE SOLDIER'S CHAPEL
