As a global authority on conflict and its impact on people’s lives, IWM wants to engage with people from all over the world. Our social media activity is focused on helping people to learn more about, and engage with, our family of five museums, our wider public programme and collections. We welcome discussion and debate, but please avoid posting any hateful, defamatory or harassing comments, images or video, or anything that could be deemed offensive to others. Such comments and posts will be removed.

Spamming, repeatedly sharing the same or very similar messages, or posts that are off-topic may also be removed.

All of the information you give us is private and secure. We do not currently sell or rent personal data about our customers, and would not do so without asking you first. Under the UK Data Protection legislation, we follow strict security procedures in the storage and disclosure of personal data which you have given us to prevent unauthorised access. Our security procedures mean that we may occasionally request proof of identity before we are able to disclose personal data to you.

Policies & Procedures

IWM is committed to setting and maintaining high standards of service and operation across all its branches. Anyone who expresses dissatisfaction with any aspect of their visit or the services which the museum has provided can expect to have their complaint addressed as quickly as possible.

IWM has a formal complaints procedure for more serious issues relating to:

  • Health and safety
  • Museum policy
  • The behaviour of museum staff
  • Unfair treatment
  • Contravention of laws or regulations.
