Teacher Twilight: The Holocaust and Liberation of Bergen-Belsen

IWM London | Thursday 6 March 2025 | 5.30pm - 8.30pm

This year marks the 80th Anniversary of the Liberation of Bergen-Belsen. IWM invites KS3/KS4 History teachers to join us for a free CPD evening to explore this pivotal moment, and what happened next.

In April 1945, British troops succeeded in their liberation of Bergen-Belsen concentration camp. Faced with death and disease on an unimaginable scale, an enormous relief effort ensued.

Documented in detail by the No. 5 Army Film and Photography Unit, the liberation of Belsen helped bring the horrors of the Holocaust into the public eye.

As the custodians of the national collection, IWM will support you in deepening your knowledge and understanding of the Holocaust. Senior Curator, Dr Toby Haggith will lead a talk on the Liberation of Bergen-Belsen, what happened next, and provide an in-depth look at specially selected sources.
