Our volunteers donate time in various roles across the London Branches. The volunteer programme is open to anyone aged 18 years and above. Here at IWM volunteers are special to us. Together we are bringing the stories of the effects of conflict to life - we hope you will be joining the team soon!
Current roles available
Schools Meet and Greet Volunteer
Volunteers assist staff at the Schools and Groups’ Entrance and involves a front facing customer care role. You have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience of dealing with school groups within a museum context. You will volunteer closely with and be trained by the Public Engagement and Learning Department (PE&L). Volunteers gain experience talking about our large, on- gallery, objects and are able to deal with school groups. It will require a well organised person with good communication skills and the ability to present a short (10 minute) introductory talk.
Training will take place 12 and 29 November, please make sure you can attend both sessions.

Warship Conservation Radio Section
Royal Naval Amateur Radio Society, London Group
HMS Belfast and the RNARS LG are looking for amateur radio enthusiasts to join the volunteer team in the Bridge Wireless Office, BWO. We operate the ship’s radio station, GB2RN, and help explain Morse code and naval history to visitors. If you have a full amateur radio licence, are interested in getting GB2RN on the air and interact with the many visitors to this 80 year old WW2 cruiser, please get in contact via our website, by clicking contact us.
