Description
FIELD OF MOWN GRASS WITH A PATH INTO THE CENTRE WHERE A PAVED AREA CONTAINS A MEMORIAL TABLET AND TWO FLAGPOLES. SITE OF MEMORIAL SERVICES ON 14 JANUARY TO REMEMBER LT BROWN. A NEIGHBOURING STREET WAS ALSO RE-NAMED BROWN ST IN 1969.

SITE WAS DONATED BY A LOCAL IN ORDER TO REMAIN A MEMORIAL FIELD. IT WAS MAINTAINED AFTER THE WAR BY BROWNIES UNDER THE LEADERSHIP OF THEIR "BROWN OWL" AND ALSO BY THE CHESHIRE REGIMENT ASSOCIATION NANTWICH BRANCH. IN 1985 THE ORIGINAL 1944 MEMORIAL WAS REPLACED WITH THE CURRENT ONE DONATED BY A LOCAL MASON. THE SITE CONTINUES TO BE MAINTAINED AND MEMORIAL SERVICES HELD THERE.
