- Description
- A giant red poppy set into the sloping lawn at Douglas Head, with dedication plaque and bench. The poppy is illuminated with a red light at night.
- Inscription
- They shall not grow old, as we that are left grow old:/ Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn./ At the going down of the sun and in the morning, / We will remember them/ This poppy was unveiled on 5th November 1918 by His Worship the Mayor, Mr Councillor J Laughlin JP,/ to mark the Centenary of the end of hostilities in the Great War in November 1918, and is dedicated/ to the memory of all those who fell, particularly those of Douglas./ It was installed by Douglas Borough Council with support from the Manx Lottery Trust.
