Wall mounted, on to smooth black plaster, a white marble tablet surmounted by a sword, drape, horn and military hat of the period. The lettering is incised.

SACRED TO THE MEMORY OF/LIEUTENANT JOHN MALCOLM/28TH REGIMENT BOMBAY NATIVE INFANTRY/DIED OF CHOLERA AT MASSICK, IN INDIA, 3RD NOVEMBER 1949/AGED 25 YEARS/ERECTED BY HIS BROTHER OFFICERS, AS A MARK OF/THE HIGH ESTEEM IN WHICH HE WAS HELD BY THEM AND/BY ALL WHO KNEW HIM. HE WAS AN EXCELLENT SOLDIER/AN HONEST MAN AND AN AFFECTIONATE FRIEND
