Brass plaque on wall inside the cathedral, with the crest of Glasgow University to left, the crest of the Church of Scotland at centre, and the crest of Nyasland to right.

"SACRED TO THE MEMORY OF / LIEUT. REVD. ROBERT HELLIER NAPIER / INTELLIGENCE OFFICER, THE NYASA / LAND FIELD FORCE. BELOVED SON OF / SARAH AND R TWENTYMAN NAPIER / WHO HAVING SERVED AT KARONGA IN / 1914 AND IN GERMAN E AFRICA IN 1917, / FELL IN ACTION IN PORTUGUESE AFRICA / ON 11TH FEBY 1918 AGED 33 YEARS. / ORDAINED IN THE CHOIR OF THIS CATHEDRAL / 1909.
