- Derby Daily Telegraph 7/6/1943 (pages 2 and 6) announced that Pilot Officer Robert "Tommy" Tomlinson had been killed serving in the RAF, aged 30, and that his funeral would take place on 9/6/1943 at Atlow parish church. His obituary on page 2 included his photograph.
