Description
Curved wall of Cotswold Stone bricks with a central dedicatory tablet, headed by Armed Forces emblem, and flanked by six smaller tablets with emblems of the Royal Navy, Royal Marines and Army to the left, and RAF, Royal Fleet Auxiliary and Merchant Navy to the right. The wall, which resembles the memorial at the Blue Beach Cemetery in San Carlos is irregular in shape in that the central section is higher than the flanks. There is a smaller tablet, below the main dedicatory tablet, engraved with dedication details and a square tablet, with sloping face, is placed at the base of the wall with a map depicting the route taken by the Task Force from Britain to the South Atlantic. There are two adjacent benches, made of the same stone as the wall, with black granite tops. A metal dedicatory plaque explains the bench commemoration. There are several granite stones from the Falklands, one engraved with the names of the British civilian casualties (See WMR 62930) In front of the memorial is the Antelope Garden (WMR 61767). with planting divided by a wide stone flagged path leading to the Memorial Wall.
