Description
The main part is an oak board consisting of three panels. The centre panel has a carving of the crucifixion. Below this is the inscription in burnished gold lettering. At the top of this central panel, above the crucifixion, is a canopy carved with a Gothic vine decoration. This canopy is raised higher than the two panels, either side of the central one, which each contain two columns of names in incised and gilded lettering. Along the bottom edge is a stong base ledge upon which rest four pilasters that rise to meet a frieze, decorated in the same pattern as the canopy. The Second World War section is placed beneath the main memorial and is of the same material and style although it is made of one rectangular panel positioned horizontally with names in three columns.
