- Description
- White stone cloister with vaulted ceiling leading from the Birdcage Walk door to a set of four steps up to the Chapel narthex and a memorial in an alcove of the opposite wall. The memorial in the narthex is a solid stone approx.. 1m high and 1.5m wide with a top of black marble. At the front and on each corner is a gilded, carved regimental badge. Above the top of the stone are holders containing the seven regimental colours and standards. All sits within a deep alcove in the wall which has a ceiling stretching well above the memorial in a triangular shape cut across the top. The cloister contains Rolls of Honour 1939-45 for each regiment of the division (our references 49284-90), a Book of Remembrance for those who were killed in the chapel in June 1944 (our reference 49281) and a Brigade of Guards Book of Remembrance 1918-44 (our reference 49279).
