Description
Grey cornish granite Cross, total height 14 feet, 1 foot square, of octagonal shape. This stands on a rough stone pedestal 3 feet high and 5 feet square, the front of which has been smoothed for the inscription. This in turn stands on two wide stone steps one foot deep. The leaded letters are all in sans serif capitals.

  • Newcastle Daily Chronicle 2 September 1921 reports proposed unveiling; 6 September 1921 reports unveiling and has a slight difference in one of the names: Pte. William Forster instead of Walter Forster
  • Newcastle Daily Journal 19 February 1920 reports 1. At a service at Bingfield, it was reported that from Hallington and Bingfield villages, 6 men out of a population of 41 had served. The names are on the memorial at Wall. 2. Men returning were each presented with a gold medal, raised by public subscription.
