- ON THE 27TH DAY OF SEPTEMBER 1598 ROBERT BLAKE WAS BAPTIZED IN THIS FONT. TO THE GLORY OF GOD AND IN MEMORY OF CO,LONEL ROBERT BLAKE, ADMIRAL AND GENERAL-AT-SEA AND CHIEF FOUNDER OF ENGLAND'S NAVAL SUPREMACY. HE DIED AT SEA AND WAS AND BURIED AUGUST 7TH, 1657
