THIS MEMORIAL WAS DESIGNED BY MR H ST JOHN HARRISON AND UNVEILED/ BY THE MARQUIS OF CREWE ON 2ND JULY 1926. IT CONTAINS A BOOK OF/ REMEMBRANCE IN WHICH ARE INSCRIBED THE NAMES OF THOSE MEMBERS 0F THE/ UNIVERSITY WHO DIED IN THE WARS 1914 - 1918 AND 1939 - 1945/ 'illis gloria nobis liberates' (Latin: 'to them (the) glory/fame, to us the freedom') IT WAS DEDICATED BY THE BISHOP OF SHEFFIELD THE REV. L.H BURROWS ON/ FRIDAY THE 2ND JULY 1926 AT 10:15 AM
