Description
THREE-STEPPED BASE SURMOUNTED BY CORNISH GRANITE TAPERING COLUMN WHICH IS SHAPED TO FORM A CROSS ON EACH FACE. BRONZE FIGURE OF PEACE HOLDING ALOFT A OLIVE BRANCH IN ONE HAND AND A SCROLL IN THE OTHER STANDS ON THE CURVED PROJECTING BASE ON THE 6 O'CLOCK FACE OF THE MEMORIAL. RELIEF PANELS ON THE SIDES OF THE GRANITE BASE. THE CAPSTONE IS DRAPED BY A CARVED REPRESENTATION OF THE COLOURS AND THE WHOLE IS SURMOUNTED BY A BRONZE BRAZIER. A BRASS CONTAINER IS SET WITHIN THE MEMORIAL WITH THE NAMES OF THE FALLEN INSCRIBED ON A SCROLL INSIDE IT ONE PANEL DEPICTS THE NAVY AND THE ROYAL FLYING CORPS FLANKED BY FIGURES OF A SAILOR AND AN AIRMAN. THE OTHER PANELS DEPICTS THE ARMY WITH SOLDIERS AND A GUN LIMBER. THE HORSES OF THE LIMBER ARE QUIETENING THE HORSES. THIS IS FLANKED BY THE FIGURES OF A SOLDIER AND A NURSE
