- A WHITE MARBLE CARTOUCHE TABLET WITH INCISED INSCRIPTION MOUNTED ONTO A BLACK MARBLE TRIANGULAR HEADED BASE. DECORATION SURMOUNTS THE CARTOUCHE WITH REGIMENTAL BADGE ABOVE IT. COPPER MEDALLION AT THE BASE OF THE TABLET WITH INSCRIPTION EITHER SIDE. DECORATION CONSISTS OF FOUR BATTLE FLAGS, A CANNON, FIXED BAYONET AND SWORD ABOVE THE CARTOUCH AND REGIMENTAL BADGE OF THE 75TH STIRLINGSHIRE REGIMENT ABOVE THAT. COPPER MEDALLION HAS A LIKENESS OF WILLIAM MEYNELL ON IT

- CARTOUCHE: THE LIEUTENANT COLONEL / AND OFFICERS OF H.M. 75TH REGIMENT / TO THEIR LATE COMRADE AND BROTHER OFFICER / WILLIAM MEYNELL / SENIOR LIEUTENANT / WHO, A VOLUNTEER ON LEAVE / FROM HIS REGIMENT IN INDIA / FELL GLORIOUSLY AT GUERGIVO, ON THE DANUBE / THE 7TH DAY OF JULY 1854. / AGED 28, / WHILST GALLANTLY LEADING A PARTY OF TURKS / AGAINST THE RUSSIANS. / THIS TABLET IS ERECTED / AS A MARK OF THEIR AFFECTIONATE REGARD AND ESTEEM / AND OF THE DEEP REGRET THEY FEEL / AT HIS UNTIMELY BUT GLORIOUS FATE BASE: THEY SAY THAT WAR IS HELL, A THING IMPOSSIBLE TO BE FORGIVEN, / BUT WHEN I SEE IT AT ITS WORST, I STILL FIND BLUE IN HEAVEN / AND WHEN SEE HOW NOBLE NATURES FORM IN THE RED RAIN OF WAR, I DEEM IT TRUE / THAT HE WHO MADE THE EARTHQUAKE AND THE STORM, PERCHANCE MADE BATTLES TOO.
