- Description
- In the North Transept, east aisle, a large marble group in high relief showing a sarcophagus with allegoric figures. On left is a woman in classical dress, who leans on a sarcophagus which has a pair of standards placed on it. On right a seated woman, wearing a Minervan helmet and sandals, her left hand on the shoulder of a young boy. In the centre is a sarcophagus inset with a medallion portrait of a man, facing to the right, and carved with striations and an anthemion on top. The sarcophagus stands on a faceted pedestal bearing the memorial inscription and behind the figures are a shield (on the left) and a globe and scroll (on the right). The figures stand on a base stepped at the ends.
