- A rectangular marble tablet within a plain wooden frame. In the top left hand corner is a regimental badge and in the top right hand corner is a Victoria Cross. Between the opening quote and the dedication is a gold cross.
- Inscription
- "BE THOU FAITHFUL UNTO DEATH AND/ I WILL GIVE THEE A CROWN OF LIFE."/ TO THE MEMORY OF A BELOVED SON/ THOMAS RIVERSDALE COLYER-FERGUSSON V.C./ 2ND LIEUT ACTING CAPTAIN NORTHAMPTONSHIRE REGIMENT/ 3RD AND YOUNGEST SON OF/ THOMAS COLYER & THE LATE BEATRICE STANLEY COLYER-FERGUSSON/ OF IGHTHAM MOTE IN THIS PARISH/ BORN 18TH FEBUARY 1896, DIED 31ST JULY 1917./ HE WAS EDUCATED AT HARROW AND WHEN ABOUT TO ENTER ORIEL COLLEGE OXFORD/ THE GREAT EUROPEAN WAR BROKE OUT. HE JOINED THE PUBLIC SCHOOLS BATTALION/ IN 1914. OBTAINED A COMMISSION IN THE NORTHAMPTONSHIRE REGIMENT IN MARCH/ 1915. HE FELL AT BELLEWARDE IN THE 3RD BATTLE OF YPRES AFTER A BRILLIANT/ AND SUCCESSFUL ATTACK IN WHICH HE LED HIS FEW MEN AGAINST GREAT ODDS/ AND PERSONALLY CAPTURED TWO MACHINE GUNS FOR WHICH HE WAS/ POSTHUMOUSLY AWARDED THE VICTORIA CROSS. THE OFFICIAL REPORT/ OF THE ACTION CONCLUDES "THE CONDUCT OF THIS OFFICER FORMS AN AMAZING/ RECORD OF DASH, GALLANTRY, AND SKILL, FOR WHICH NO REWARD CAN BE/ TOO GREAT HAVING REGARD TO THE IMPORTANCE OF THE POSITION WON."/ THEY SHALL NOT GROW OLD, AS WE THAT ARE LEFT GROW OLD, AGE SHALL NOT WEARY THEM, NOR THE YEARS CONDEMN, FROM THE GOING DOWN OF THE SUN, AND IN THE MORNING/ WE WILL REMEMBER THEM."
