Photocopied ts letters (42pp) to her parents in England written by a 'GI Bride', July - November 1946 covering her departure from Tidworth transit camp, Wiltshire, conditions on the voyage from Southampton to the USA in the troopship USS GOETHALS and her adjustment to life in an Italian/American family resident near Buffalo, New York State with good descriptions of civilian conditions in postwar America (particularly compared to austerity Britain) and useful references to popular misconceptions about the British way of life; also a photocopied ts account (18pp) in which she recalls the arrival of US servicemen in Chippenham, during the Second World War, the hospitality shown to them by her parents, her romance with and marriage to an American Sergeant (1946), and gives a resume of her subsequent life and career in the USA.
