Description
Object description
A very interesting collection of 53 ms and ts replies (571pp) to a questionnaire, sent to Ms A Wilson (nee Dickinson) in response to her appeal for contributions made in 1984, from women who, like herself, emigrated to America in the years shortly after the Second World War, following their marriages to American servicemen and giving detailed accounts of their experiences; including where they had lived in the UK and whether they were engaged in war work, how they met their future husbands, the circumstances of their passage to and first impressions of America, and if they had maintained any particular British traditions. Most questionnaires are accompanied by photographs, and some by additional ts and ms memoirs, and the collection is a particularly good source of information on the many cultural and social differences the GI Brides encountered.
