Project Description

A project to record the activities of all kinds of women and girls in or from Wales between 1914 - 1919. Material has been sought by volunteer researchers and submitted by members of the public from locations as far away as Australia. All contributions are recorded onto our website which we continue to update. This online resource contains a fully searchable list of entries for nearly five hundred individuals. The website also has background material supporting these entries, along with a set of posters which can be downloaded for school use, and is fully bilingual in Welsh and English. The project was funded by the National Lottery, with the website maintained by the Women's Archive of Wales. The photograph shows Prime Minister David Lloyd George's visit to a Neath munitions factory in August 1918.
