Brass 'Eagle' Lectern
Inscription
The interpretative sign beside the lectern reads: Eagle Lectern . This was gifted by the Governors of Dollar Academy /"In Gratitude for those He brought in safety/through the perils of the Great War 1914-1918".// . Traditionally an Eagle is used as it is the natural enemy/of the Serpent. The two outspread wings represent the/two testaments.// . The lectern is solid brass and weighs 3cwt. It was stolen/in July 1981 and traced a month later, apparently at the docks/waiting shipment to America.
