- "The Chancel screen was put up without anything for a start and then they put the cross up. And then they had this figure, they got it from Oberammergau". (And reading from Canon Hunt's parish magazine dated 1922 Mrs. Taylor went on).. "Its a gift of the men returned after service during the war, aided by Mr. Fred Hullett (brother of Sidney), and Mr. Billy Lyon. It is more acceptable as the greatest improvement to the church's furnishings and a constant sermon on suffering for others". "The other figures were put up later". Source: "Talks with", by A. Walker, 18 Ryland Road, Welton, Lincoln LN2 3LU. Mrs. Gwen Tylor 15.11.1995 and published in Welton "I remember..." page 36.
