  • A Century of War Tour available Monday to Friday only
  • Maximum 10 people per tour taking place inside museum hours (10am-6pm)
  • Maximum 15 people per tour taking place outside museum hours (9 -10am and 6.15 -7.15pm)
  • Tours cost £200 during museum opening hours 10am – 6pm
  • Tours cost £250 for time slots of 9 -10am and 6.15 -7.15pm
  • Tours during Bank Holidays cost £250
  • Tours last approx. 60 minutes

PUBLIC GALLERY TOURS

We offer 2 different public tours daily at IWM London. These tours use headsets to ensure you can hear your guide clearly throughout the galleries. Tours last approx. 40 minutes

CURATOR TOURS

Curator Tour: Life on the Lancaster

Thursday 17th January

4pm IWM London

Join us at IWM London to discover the history behind the Lancaster bomber, with the museum’s Head of Second World War, John Delaney. John will discuss the history of IWM’s Lancaster fuselage on display in the museum’s atrium,

explore the strategic bombing campaign, and for the first time guests will have the exciting opportunity to view accompanying items from the museum’s archive as part of this exclusive tour experience

Curator Tour: The fall of Singapore and Hong Kong

Thursday 14th February

4pm IWM London

Join Senior Curator of Second World War, Alan Jeffreys as he discusses the military campaigns in Malaya, Hong Kong and Singapore and the experience of prisoners of war and civilian internees. Starting with the Union Jack flag that was carried when the British and Commonwealth forces, led by General Arthur Percival, surrendered to the invading Imperial Japanese Army on Singapore Island on 15 February 1941; an exhibit that has come to symbolise the Fall of the Empire and Commonwealth in South East Asia. The civilian internee experience will be demonstrated by the Day Joyce embroidered sheet on display in the galleries that tells the story of her experience.  The talk was also look at the role of Dalforce, a Chinese unit enlisted in Singapore, and the establishment of the Indian National Army and similar forces raised by the Japanese.

Curator Tour: On patrol with the Long Range Desert group

Thursday 14th March

Join us at IWM London to discover the history behind the Long Range Desert Group, the ‘Libyan Desert Taxi Service’, with Assistant Curator of Second World War, Robert Rumble. Robert will discuss the history of IWM’s LRDG Chevrolet lorry on display in the museum’s atrium, explore the war behind enemy lines in the western desert, and for the first time guests will have the exciting opportunity to view accompanying items from the museum’s archive as part of this exclusive tour experience.
