Also a number of photographs of individual officers and other ranks from an unidentified Gurkha battalion. The named individuals are: Subadar Major Sarabjit Thapa; Jemadar Birkhsing Gurung; Jemadar Jagatsher Gurung; Jemadar Kabia Thapa; Jemadar Bhagatbir Thapa; Bugler Chitore Rana Magar. Also a group photographs of British and Gurkha officers and a mountain gun detachment, at Kila Drosh, Chitral, September 1914. At the same location are photographs of the battalion signallers, tug-of-war team, men in costume for a concert party and a dancing party. Another photograph shows a group of Gurkhas returned wounded from France in February 1916. Also two photographs of Pathan Dir Levies of the Chitral Relief Force in 1915. A number of photographs also cover Gurkha recruits at Gurakhpur Depot in 1916 and Dharmsala in May 1916 and 1917.
Also a portrait photograph of His Highness Raja Sir Ram Singh, ruler of the Sitamau State; photographs taken in a prisoner of war camp (Camp Aungban) at Meiktila, Burma, showing prisoners (mostly Turks) at work, drawing pay, plus general view of the camp. Also a POW camp for Germans at Ramandung showing British camp staff in 1915, prisoners working in a garden, a band, prisoners in costume for a concert party and funeral of a German NCO. There are also photographs of antique artillery pieces at Baghdad.
Physical description
Black and white photographic prints both mounted on boards and unmounted. The majority of prints have annotations, handwritten in pencil on the reverse. Also, one album with a grey card cover with black abstract pattern design on front cover. Album pages are loose within the cover.
