Scenes from Operation Napier, a search and arrest operation on suspect houses in Basra City.
Soldiers move towards first target house; one is carrying scaling ladders which are put against the outer wall. Inside the courtyard of the house, a large number of people are sleeping on pallets; they are kept under watch while the house is searched. At second location, ladders are used to scale the wall while other soldiers knock on the gate. The soldiers gain entry and begin searching the premises. They interview the householder with intention to search. Outside, family members (women and children) descend from the roof: male suspects are detained. Inside, a search of the house gets underway by Royal Engineers search team, guns and ammunition are found. Search dog and metal detectors are also used.
