II. "Vive Churchill." Churchill, accompanied by his wife, daughter Mary and Eden, is met by De Gaulle upon his arrival at a French airfield for his first visit to the capital since 1940. After inspecting a guard of honour, the two leaders drive to the Arc de Triomphe for the wreath-laying ceremony on 11 November. Commentary sees visit as "not only a sign of Anglo-French sympathy, but also as marking the need for full Anglo-French cooperation in the years to come." Crowds line the Champs Elysées down which Churchill and De Gaulle walk before watching a massive military parade. Film shows British Guards, kilted Canadians, Americans and French colonial troops. Audience includes Bidault as well as Mrs Eden, in Paris as head of the AEF Club.
