In September 1942, Evans submitted some photograph of pictures, one of which the Committee asked to see in the original. A smaller version of this work was commissioned, for 25 guineas (8) (LD 2628). In November that year, a coal mining subject was commissioned, again for 25 guineas (11). A commissioned picture is recorded as being accepted by the committee in December 1942 but it is not clear what became of the other. Two monotypes on mining subjects were submitted in November 1942 (IWM:ART LD 2526 and 2527) and purchased for five guineas each. Evans offered other pictures as a gift but was refused.
There is a presscutting about Evans at (12), and a biographical note at (13).
