Papers relating to his service with the Royal Army Service Corps, starting as a Lance Corporal, later Corporal, including: four detailed ms diaries, starting August 1940 and ending June 1944, with details of leaving the UK, sailing in HMT FRANCONIA to Suez, via Freetown, Cape Town and Durban, and then on to Haifa, Palestine (August - September 1940), and service in Palestine, Trans Jordan, Iraq, Egypt, and Libya, with details of his daily routines, the many journeys he made, with distances travelled, and thoughts and notes about the places he went to; a ms letter to his wife, Peggy (September 1943) with hand-drawn watercolour sketches; his Soldier's Service and Pay Book (AB 64); Soldier's Release Book (AB X801); Record of Service; membership card for the RASC Regimental Association; a ms notebook containing training and other notes, including a nominal roll for 'C' Section, 286th Company RASC; two annotated photograph albums, in wooden souvenir albums from Jerusalem, with photographs he took of the places he had been, fellow soldiers, his vehicles, routes, bombing, and his leisure time and tourism; photographs of Fred Butler-Evans in uniform.
