A collection of papers and photographs relating to his service with the Royal Corps of Signals, with Special Operations Executive (SOE) No 1 Special Force in Turin and Milan, Italy, and then as a wireless operator serving with Force 136 and HQ SEAC, Far East Publicity Division, and including: a pass for HQ XXV Corps (December 1943); a note to him from Jimmy (May 194?); an invitation (May 194?); a wireless message sent to him carrying a message from Inter-Services Liaison Department (ISLD - SIS) to one of their agents; note from Adrian Hope while Sayers was behind enemy lines (March 194?); pass authorising Sayers to visit Rome (June 1944); a ms letter from Lieutenant Basil O Temple Jr, USAAC, to Sayers' mother saying that he had met her son when behind enemy lines in Italy (April 1945); a letter from John regarding difficulties with Brazilian troops; a Signals plan for Comando IV Brigata [in Italian]; a signal to 'Otter Red' advising of Japan's surrender (August 1945); signal to 'Otter Red' ordering suspension of offensive operations against Japanese forces (August 1945); aerial propaganda leaflets, 8 Italian, 3 Cyrillic, 3 Greek, 7 German, 1 Serb and 1 Bulgarian, with translations of six of them; a cutting from the newspaper 'Springbok' (October 1944); 'Report No 15 on Broadcasts from Cairo and Palbase for Week Ending 7 October 1943'; Japanese Surrender Leaflets; photocopies of silk one time pads; a photograph album of Sayers' photographs; maps (some silk) of Rome, Ceva, Carmagnola, China, Balkans, and Milan; and c.130 photographic prints, mostly official British Army or Press photographs.
