A collection of official papers and photographs relating to his service in the Royal Navy as an Air Mechanic with the Royal Naval Air Service working on Corsair, Hellcat, Seafire and Wildcat aircraft at sea and in the Far East, including: National Service Acts, 1939 to 1941, call-up notice to attend a medical inspection (January 1942), and two later copies (April and May 1943); notices to men called up under the National Service (Armed Forces) Acts; a History Sheet for Air Mechanics (A), (E), (O), & (L) (1943 – 1946); his Certificate of Service in the Royal Navy (1943 – 1946); a Christmas postcard from HMS RAJALIYA (1944); his Station Card (S.247a) for HMS VALLURU, the Royal Naval Air Station Tambaram, Madras, India (1945); a menu for a leaving supper (July 1945); a ticket for a Ceylon Army Command Free Troop Show 'While the Sun Shines', Colombo (July – August 1945); a Fleet Air Arm Greetings postcard to his parents (Christmas 1945); a large photograph showing the members of Naval Operational Training Unit East Indies with two aeroplanes; two blank Air Mail Letters with printed images of Christmas Greetings (n.d.) and Victory Greetings (1945) showing the different races and services of the British and Indian armies which brought victory in the Far East; his RN Barracks Meal Card for HMS BRAGANZA, Royal Navy base, Bombay, India (1946); a receipt for duty paid on his return from India to Liverpool (April 1946); an Interim Trade Certificate regarding his trade as an Air Mechanic (O) in HMS WAXWING (May 1946); Order for Release from Naval Service (Class A) (May 1946); Leaflet for Men and Women Leaving the Forces; National Health and Pensions Insurance leaflet; a blank Amalgamated Engineering Union Proposition Form; his National Registration Identity Card (1946); a mileage chart showing distances from Coventry, from the firm of W Marlow, Coal and Fuel Merchant, Coventry (n.d.); an unused Motor Fuel Ration Book; a used Supplementary Clothing Book; a National Insurance Contribution Record (1949 – 1950); NHS Medical Card (December 1965); a WAAF birthday greetings card (n.d.). Together with two plastic ID Passes issued to Miss Jean Hall (later Mrs Johnson) and her mother, Mrs H Hall, for entry to a vehicle factory in Coventry during the war; five photographs of Miss Hall working in the factory; her National Registration Identity Card (1947); a National Insurance notice of arrears (1948); and her NHS Medical Card (December 1965).
