Three excellent, short ms accounts (4pp, June 1915) recording his experiences with the 6th Battalion Manchester Regiment (127th (Manchester) Brigade, 42nd (East Lancashire) Division) during The Third Battle of Krithia (4 June 1915) in Gallipoli, including "pushing the Turks out with the bayonet", the "magnificent" behaviour of the officers and men of the battalion, the heavy casualties (11 officers killed), the heavy losses of the Turk who "is a splendid fighter", and a congratulatory message from Lieutenant General Sir Aylmer Hunter-Weston (VIII Corps) saying that he would make the name of the Manchester Brigade "ring, not only thro' Lancashire, but throughout the Empire". Also included are a ms post card (2pp, 24 August 1918) from a Wesleyan Chaplain and a ms telegram (1p, 27 August 1918) reporting to his father that Second Lieutenant Percy Edward Gribbin of the 7th Battalion The King's Liverpool Regiment (165th (Liverpool) Brigade, 55th (West Lancashire) Division) had been "slightly wounded" with a gun shot wound "in this morning's push" [capture of Givenchy Craters by I Corps, First Army, 24 August 1918]; a ms letter from Reginald Gribbin in Deolali, India (4pp, May 1946) to Mabel (his wife?) informing her that he will be returning to the UK from Bombay, India on the MAURETANIA with contingents of troops from India and Africa who will take part in the Victory Parade in London, that he is hoping to attend the Victory Parade himself, and that he is still suffering from diarrhoea; and four ts letters (16pp, November 1939 – December 1940) from his friend, "Mollie" in South End-on-Sea and Westcliff-on-Sea, to Reg commenting on the effects of the war; gas masks; German air raids, notably the Blitz (1940) and friends who have lost their homes; the possible evacuation of her job; and domestic news.
