Substantial collection of material concerning his work at the end of the Second World War as a Combined Intelligence Objectives Sub-Committee (CIOS) Team Leader in Germany and Czechoslovakia, representing the Ministry of Aircraft Production, investigating various wartime military and industrial targets, comprising: 1) folder of official documents regarding disarmament and the reduction of military and industrial potential in postwar Germany under the auspices of the Allied Control Commission for Germany (CCG); 2) folder of official documents concerning specific CIOS investigations with which Ross was involved, including the `Hanomag' works in Hanover and the `Osnabruck Copper and Wire Works'; 3) folder containing mainly official instructions, guidelines etc issued to military and civilian personnel working at CCG Zonal Executive Offices at Minden with regard to the transfer and accommodation of families; 4) CCG-issued `Handbook of Instructions for Disarmament' (1947); 5) bound official report on the dismantling of the `Torpedo-Versuchs-Anstalt' (Torpedo Experimental Establishment) at Eckernfoerde, containing numerous photographs of demolished installations etc; 6) bound drafts of various CIOS and related reports on metallurgical subjects, with particular reference to `tungum' alloy; 7) envelope containing several identity documents of Winfried Schreiber, including his Hitler Youth Leader book [provenance unknown]; 8) approx. 175 album-pages with photographs taken by Ross and others in Germany and Czechoslovakia, mostly uncaptioned, showing CIOS team members, local scenes, and military and industrial targets (including interesting shots of a - unidentified - decoy factory, built to divert Allied bombers from genuine targets).
Together with a large collection of maps of Germany and Central Europe including road maps, topographical maps and street plans.
