A collection of diaries and papers relating to his service in the Royal Flying Corps (RFC) and Royal Air Force (RAF), 1917 - 1950, including: three of his Pilot's Flying Log Books (December 1921 - June 1944) while serving in the UK, with 84 Squadron in Iraq (March 1922 - January 1925), a Photographic Course, Farnborough (March 1925 - March 1926), as Adjutant, RAF Farnborough (March 1926 - December 1928), as Flight Commander No 3 (Fighter) Squadron (January 1929 - December 1930), as an Instructor in the School of Photography, Farnborough (January - December 1931), at the RAF Staff College, Andover (January - December 1932), as a Flight Lieutenant with HQ No 1 (Indian) Group, Peshawar, India (March - June 1935), as a Squadron Leader commanding No 31 (Army cooperation) Squadron, India (July 1935 - July 1937), with Air Staff of No 4 Group Bomber Command (October 1937 - December 1938), as a Wing Commander at HQ Bomber Command (January 1939 - February 1941), Group Captain commanding RAF Coningsby (February 1941 - March 1942), as Deputy Director of Supply and Organisation, RAF Delegation, Washington DC, USA (March - December 1942), as Deputy Director of Organisation (Planes) at the Air Ministry (January - November 1943, and as Group Captain Commanding RAF Upwood (December 1943 - November 1944); two ms notebooks / diaries covering his service in the RFC (September 1917 - October 1919) with very brief notes for 1917 and 1918 including instruction at RAF Duxford, and with longer entries for late 1918 and 1919 covering his flying duties in Greece and the Caucasus, including allied operations in Russia; two ms daily diaries, with short entries, the first from 1922 covering service in Iraq, the second from 1946, while commanding RAF Base, Madras, India; the first part of a ms account (16pp) entitled 'Reminiscences of my Life Abroad in the Royal Air Force' covering his service in 221 Squadron assisting the Royal Navy in the Caspian Sea (August - October 1918); a copy of 'Air Force Songs and Verses' (1927); a book of amusing RAF cartoons by Frank R Grey entitled 'The Low Down on Flying'; a Commission Certificate (November 1918some operational orders (December 1918); correspondence to his award of the Order of St Stanislas, 2nd Class (December 1920); a Mention in Despatches certificate (August 1940); 10 RAF edition ordnance survey maps of England (1930s and 1940s); and some other papers picked up while on service.
