Small collection of documents, mainly official in character, relating to his time as a prisoner of war in the Far East when he was attached to the British Sumatra Battalion and comprising: two letters (1p each, March and April 1942) from the Royal Artillery to his wife in Gloucestershire after he was reported missing following the fall of Singapore, printed note (October 1942) from the Vatican in response to an enquiry from his wife about him, interesting 'pro forma' Imperial Japanese Army prisoner of war card sent by him to his wife from Moulmein camp (ca 1943), a second prisoner of war postcard to his wife (20 May 1944), typed postcard sent to him by his wife (July 1945), telegram to his wife from India following his liberation, circular printed letter (1p) from the War Office informing her of his liberation and cyclostyled note (1p) concerning his repatriation (September – October 1945); together with his Soldier's Release Book (March 1946) and a post-war photograph of him with a former Dutch prisoner of war in the Far East. Mann was serving as a Gunner in the 3rd Heavy Anti-Aircraft Regiment RA when he was taken prisoner in Sumatra in March 1942.
