Ts memoir (106pp, written during the 1990s) of his service with the RAF (1936 - 1962), covering his apprenticeship as a clerk at RAF Ruislip, his posting as a clerk to RAF Cardington and the Air Ministry, his training as a pilot (1940 - 1941) at No. 2 ITW Cambridge, No. 26 EFTS Bulawayo, Southern Rhodesia, No. 70 OTU Kenya, and No. 71 OTU Sudan, his posting to No.1 Delivery Unit in Egypt (1942), No. 127 Squadron in Palestine and Egypt (February - November 1942), No. 601 Squadron in Tripoli, Tunisia, Malta and Sicily (January - October 1943), in the UK with No. 2 TEU Kinross, No. 511 FRU Odiham, and No. 57 OTU (January - August 1944), and briefly his return to No. 127 Squadron in England and France prior to his forced landing, capture and imprisonment at Stalag Luft I at Barth (1944 - 1945), together with his post-war service at RAF Lyneham, Wiltshire, RAF Waterbeach, Cambridgeshire, RAF Honington, RAF Syerston North and the Air Ministry (1945 - 1949), with No. 28 Squadron in Hong Kong (1950 - 1952), as a Meteor Instructor at No. 226 OCU, Stradishall, Suffolk, as Squadron Leader HQ Transport Command RAF Upavon, Wiltshire, as CO of No. 3621 FCU RAAF (1952 - 1957) on Christmas Island during the nucleur tests codenamed 'Grapple', and as personal staff officer to the task force commander and at the Air Ministry (1958 - 1962); including useful details of service life, the dangers of operational flying, technical aspects of the aircraft flown by him and a good description of his capture by German forces in France and subsequent experiences as a POW. Also with the collection are original documents relating to his service and imprisonment, photographs and papers relating to No. 28 Squadron and the Squadron's Old Comrades Association (1918 - 1995).
