Ms journal (with ts transcription) describing his experiences after baling out of a Bomber in March 1941 over Holland (while serving as a Navigator with No 9 Squadron RAF Bomber Command), his evasion first in Holland and then in Belgium, sheltered there by associates of the Belgian Resistance in Charleroi, then, following his eventual capture in December 1941 while attempting to reach Vichy France, as a prisoner of war in Gestapo civilian prisons in Belgium and then in various POW camps in Germany (Dulag Luft in October 1942, Stalag Luft 1 at Barth, Stalag Luft 6 at Heydekrug from November 1943 to July 1944, Stalag Luft 4 at Gross Tychow from July 1944 to February 1945 and Stalag 357 at Fallingbostel from February to April 1945); together with 45 ms and ts letters written as a POW between 1942 and 1945 referring to recreational and educational facilities in the camps, official correspondence regarding to his status as 'missing' and as a POW and various papers relating to Red Cross and next-of-kin parcels.
