16 Red Cross messages (in English) sent during June 1940 - January 1943 between Ruth Neumeyer and her brother Raymond, living as child refugees from Nazi Germany with a family in Cambridge, and their parents Hans and Vera Neumeyer in Munich and their aunt Dora Boese in Dresden, enquiring after their well-being and giving brief news of themselves; printed 'Notes for persons wishing to communicate with friends in Enemy Countries, or a Country in the occupation of the Enemy'; 3 letters written by Hans and Vera Neumeyer to Bea Paish, the guarantor for Ruth and Raymond, sent January - June 1939; Ruth Neumeyer's schoolbook spanning 1937, 1938 and 1939, including lessons from Ruth's school in Dachau in 1937 and 1938, as well as lessons from her school in Cambridge in 1939 following her arrival in the UK on a Kindertransport; First Class Hook of Holland to Harwich berth ticket for Ruth Neumeyer, dated 10 May 1939; two telegrams sent to Dora Boese, 1942; official notice to Dora Boese from the German Ministry of the Interior, informing her that her (unspecified) request has been forwarded to the competent authorities, 1942; letter to Dora Boese, 1942 (2pp ms, in German); letter from the British Red Cross to Ruth Neumeyer concerning her search for news of her parents, 1943; German newspaper article from 1984 concerning her father Hans Neumeyer, a blind music teacher, who died in the Theresienstadt (Terezin) ghetto in 1944; four pages of sheet-music containing the scores of two pieces for two recorders composed by Hans Neumeyer for his daughter (no date); a piece of paper with a handwritten quote by Martin Luther, originally written by Martin Ephraim, a prisoner in Theresienstadt and subsequently annotated ('This helped in Auschwitz') by an acquaintance of Ephraim's: and a book of plays 'Deutsche Hausbuhne: Zwolf dramatische Spiele fur den jahresfreis' that belonged to Vera Neumeyer with handwritten annotations and stage directions.
