3 flying log books recording flights during his training at No. 28 Elementary and Reserve Flying Training School (April - November 1939), at No 5 Initial Training Wing at Hastings (September 1939 - April 1940); at No 13 Elementary Flying Training School at White Waltham, Berkshire (May - June); at No 10 Service Flying Training School at Tern Hill (June - September 1940); at No 3 School of General Reconnaissance (September - December 1940); at the Flying Boat Training School, Stranraer (January - March 1941); operational flights as a pilot flying the Sutherland I with No 210 Squadron RAF Coastal Command on anti-submarine and convoy patrols and based at Oban, Argyllshire and Sullom Voe in the Shetland Islands (March 1941 - July 1942); at No 4 Operational Training Unit at Invergordon (October - November 1942); at No 111 Operational Training Unit at Nassau in the Bahamas (March - May 1944); further operational flights with No. 206 Squadron RAF Coastal Command based at St Eval in Cornwall and flying Liberators on anti-submarine patrols during the Normandy landings (June - August 1944); with No 86 Squadron based at Tain, Iceland (August 1944 - September 1945) during which period the squadron transferred to transport duties; at No. 4 (Flying Boat) Operational Training Unit Staff Course at RAF Pembroke Dock (June - July 1947) and finally with No 205 Squadron at Koggala in Ceylon (August 1947 - February 1950). The log books are accompanied by a ts letter (1p) from the Head of the British Air Mission to Moscow to the captain of a Catalina flying boat giving authorisation to fly to the UK and giving details of passengers to be collected (September 1941) and a ts letter (1p) from an Australian member of the British Air Mission to Moscow giving an account of their journey to Moscow via Archangel in a Catalina flying boat (October 1941).
