3 ms letters (6pp in total) to his mother written on 28 July, 4 August and finally on 18 August 1940, the day before the Blenheim bomber in which he was flying as a Sergeant pilot with No. 114 Squadron, Bomber Command was shot down over the Netherlands and in which he comments that, unless the squadron gets some leave '..we shall crack up under the strain - seeing your friends disappear one by one each day', together with the telegram reporting him missing, 3 ms letters from the Squadron's Commanding Officer to Dobb's father offering his condolences and informing him of the fate of the other crew members, 1 letter from the father of the air gunner, 3 ts letters from the RAF Record Office and the Air Ministry regarding investigations into his death and the location of his grave. The collection also includes a photograph of the cross erected at Midden Beemster, Netherlands by locals immediately after the crash, a recent colour photograph of the memorial and 2 ts documents (4pp) providing further details of the crash, compiled for a Dutch documentary from eye witness accounts by locals and by the navigator who survived the crash.
