261 ms letters, 1 postcard, 4 telegrams, and 1 greetings card written to her husband both before and after their marriage in November 1944, covering her final school days as an evacuee in Yeovil, Somerset (June 1940 - August 1941), her return to the family home in Stockwell, London (later Herne Hill), teacher training at Bishops Otter College, Chichester and Bromley, Kent (September 1941 - August 1943), and teaching at a school in Croydon, south London (August 1943 - March 1946), including a period of evacuation duties in Kettering, Northamptonshire (August 1944 - January 1945); the letters include good details of the wartime life of a young woman as schoolgirl, college student and trained teacher, together with the problems of rationing, bombing and setting up home for the future, and mentioning VE and VJ Day celebrations and the ensuing exhibitions on display in London.
