129 ms letters and cards (c. 900pp, plus envelopes) written by a VAD during her service with the Women's Sick and Wounded Convoy Corps and Red Crescent during the First Balkan War in Bulgaria, November 1912 - May 1913, as a nurse in Belgium, 1914, with the Russian Red Cross in Poland, Galicia, Russia, Persia and Kurdistan, November 1914 - August 1917 and as a civilian trapped in Pyatigorsk in the Caucasus during the Russian revolution and ensuing civil war with interesting references to civilian conditions in the countries where she nursed, descriptions of the privations endured by both medical staff and patients (civilian and military) in the hospitals and dressing stations where she was employed and graphic descriptions of life in Pyatigorsk during the initial Bolshevik occupation, also memoirs and other papers covering her experiences in Bulgaria and Pyatigorsk (including a report on the execution there of anti revolutionaries in October 1918), nursing certificates and photographs.
