Object description
Word processor copy (66pp), printed in 1997, of a compilation of recollections written by officers and men in the Westminster Dragoons (2nd County of London Yeomanry) who were serving with those elements of the regiment, a unit in the 79th Armoured Division, which landed in Normandy on D-Day either with the beaching teams or a few hours later, with useful details about their final preparations for the invasion, the discomforts of crossing the English Channel in a tank landing craft and the sensations of being on active service for the first time, but principally describing the hazardous flailing operations over enemy minefields in which the Regiment's specially adapted Sherman tanks were engaged during the initial establishment of the Normandy bridgehead.
