Photocopied ts memoir (137pp) of his service as batman to Brigadier General F P Crozier during the First World War, mainly concerning his experiences and personal relationship with Crozier, but covering his enlistment in the Ulster Volunteer Force in August 1914 at the age of 16, transfer to the 9th Battalion Royal Irish Rifles (107th Brigade, 36th Division) as batman to Captain Crozier, service with the Battalion in France from October 1915, describing conditions at the front and the Battle of Albert during the Somme offensive, and his transfer in November 1916 with Crozier who was given command of 119th Brigade (40th Division), describing some of the actions in which the Brigade was subsequently involved including the March 1918 offensive and the Allied advance of autumn 1918. Together with a revised ts transcription (153pp) prepared by the family, including additional biographical information and illustrations.
