Photocopies of a few documents relating to his time, while serving as a Wing Commander, as a prisoner of war in Cycle camp, Batavia, Java from May 1945 onwards, mainly concerned with the rates of pay for officers authorised by the Japanese and the handover of power in camps in Java following Japan's surrender (circa July - September 1945), together with six original printed lists (September 1942 - April 1945) prepared by the Malayan Research Bureau in Australia of civilian internees and local Volunteers from Malaya, Borneo, the Netherlands East Indies and Singapore known to be in Japanese hands, along with a separate list (October 1943) of internees in Sumatra, and a draft copy of a ts petition (5pp) dated 1943 for the consideration of the Secretary of State for the Colonies asking for a generous pension for the widow of the late Attorney General for the Straits Settlements, the Hon Charles Howell KC, who had died as a civilian internee in Japanese hands in September 1942.
