Collection of papers relating to Wolfgang Josephs (later Peter William Johnson) who was interned in Australia 1940 - 1941 and subsequently served with the BAOR in Germany 1945 (?) - 1946 comprising: photocopies (6pp) of various papers relating to his internment and Pioneer Corps service, 1939 - 1942; photocopy of a good ts letter (2pp) in stilted English to his father in Amsterdam, dated 11 May 1940 with references to the war situation, reaction to it in Britain and the ARP precautions in force at his London home; a duplicated/ts letter (1p) dated January 1941 from the Jewish Refugees Committee concerning his internment at Camp No 7 Eastern Command, Hay Australia; photocopies (10pp) of Red Cross correspondence between him and his father, and his father's last letters from the Netherlands before deportation, 1941 - 1942; a Red Cross letter (2pp) to his father dated April 1942 announcing his return to Britain with a brief message in German from his father dated August 1942; photocopies (3pp) of official correspondence dated 1946 and 1947 concerning his search for his father (deported from Westerbork to Auschwitz, where he perished); duplicated letter to friends dated September 1946 giving details about the despatch of packages to the British Zone in Germany; correspondence (5 letters) mainly with R W Sorenson MP concerning Lufthansa pilot J Rathje's dubious war record and some important comments on the efficiency of de-nazification; photocopies (5pp) of his notes on former Nazis in Hildesheim; photocopy of a ts letter (1p) from the Australian Army dated March 1978 being a certificate for internment for Josephs; blank Third Reich foreigners identity card (1943), British identity card (1947), British ration book (1953 - 1954), a printed packing label for 30 German hand Grenades (1944) and photocopies for Theresienstadt Concentration Camp currency.
