Album containing items relating to his service in the ASC as an NCO in the Permit Office at GHQ, 1917 - 1919, including permits issued to visiting officers and dignitaries such as General Louis Botha, Winston Churchill and H H Asquith, army education certificates and questions answered for a course in economics, programmes for concerts and shows in the GHQ Theatre and a festival for the children of Montreuil in January 1919, Christmas cards, papers concerning the Scottish Churches Hut on the town's ramparts which acted both as a soldier's club and a presbyterian church attended by Field Marshal Sir Douglas Haig, an order of service for GHQ Church Parade (July 1917), his National Registration card (October 1916), a Representation of the People Act 1918 card (AF W3940) registering a soldier to vote at home, official forms including passes, tickets and his demobilization papers, 11 ts poems in a humorous vein commenting on the war and its effects, a programme for the National Peace Celebrations in London (July 1919) and 2 orders of service for the Declaration of Peace and the Signing of the Peace Treaty, together with a collection of picture postcards of French scenes.
