Photocopy of a ts memoir (60pp), written in 1980 - 1981, describing his enlistment as a gunner in the 52nd Heavy Anti-Aircraft (HAA) Regiment Royal Artillery (RA) (TA) in London in May 1939, their training, mobilisation and service in North West London (May 1939 - February 1940); his transfer to the 51st HAA Regiment RA (TA) and service with them at Harstad during the Norwegian campaign (May 1940) and then under training in Scotland (June - August 1940), their passage to the Middle East in the troopship DOMINION MONARCH (August - September 1940) and service in the Western Desert till early 1942, including the first siege of Tobruk (April - September 1941); his transfer as an NCO into the Field Security wing of the Intelligence Corps and service with sections attached to 50th Division in the Western Desert at the time of the Gazala fighting (May - June 1942) and to the rear echelon of 8th Army during their advance (autumn 1942), at various RAF airfields in Egypt (1943) and a United States Army Air Force (USAAF) airfield near Cairo (1944) for passport control duties, and back in the United Kingdom with sections in Suffolk and Huntingdonshire (March - August 1945) and at Dover (September - December 1945).
