Two interesting ms diaries (58 and 77pp) recording his experiences as a Sergeant with the RAF in the USSR and the Middle East, August 1941 - April 1945, including: service with the ground crew of No 134 Squadron RAF, No 151 Wing, North Russia, August - December 1941; the voyage to and briefings by experts on the Soviet Union, August - September 1941; training the Soviets to fly and maintain Hurricanes near Murmansk, September - December 1941; his reactions to the conditions; his experiences in the USSR, the Soviet Air Force, clashes with the Luftwaffe, and his return to the UK; the journey via Freetown and Durban to Egypt, April - June 1942; attachment to the United States Army Air Force (USAAF) at Lydda, Palestine, July - November 1942, and No 108 Maintenance Unit, Cairo, November 1942 - January 1943, visiting the religious sights in Bethlehem and Jerusalem and other local places of interest; service with No 134 Squadron in the Western Desert, January - September 1943; as Chief Inspection Officer, Aeronautical Inspection Directorate, HQ Middle East, in Cairo, September 1943 - April 1945, travelling round and describing the life and entertainment in the Middle East; and his return to the UK, April 1945.
